Cookeville Aikido (along with the other clubs that meet at The Martial Arts Academy) will be moving to 10 W Spring Street sometime in the next month. The move should give us more mat space, more parking, and more visibility. However, we have a lot of work to do. Please let me know if you can volunteer this Thursday, Friday, Saturday, or all three. We'll be doing some demolition (taking out a couple of walls) and maybe some minor rewiring (moving light switches and outlets from the walls we're removing), and a bit of construction (raising a floating ceiling, patching some drywall) so if you have tools or expertise in these areas, please let me know about that, too.

Wendy Whited Sensei Coming to Cookeville

Wendy Whited Sensei, a Rokkudan and direct student of Shihan Mitsugi Saotome will be giving a seminar at Nashville Aikikai July 26th through 28th. We look forward to visiting with her the Wednesday and Thursday before the seminar here in Cookeville, visiting some caves and natural sights on the upper cumberland, and studying AIkido with her during the evening. Not only is Whited Sensei an advanced Aikido practitioner, she's also a skilled educator with years of experience as a middle school teacher and principle. Her classes are always well organized and crystal clear, and she's a joy to train with.  If you've never made it to one of Whited Sensei's classes, you owe it to yourself to make it to this seminar, and if you're going to be in the Upper Cumberland, feel free to stop by our little dojo and join us for an evening class or for a daytime wilderness expedition.
